Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel,
— Philippians 1:27

Our mission

To strive side by side with the people of Liberia for the faith of the Gospel.

Our Vision

That the community of Mount Barclay will be transformed by the Gospel.

Standing Side by Side was started by Molly Koon in 2012. The organization was established to provide the children of Mother Blessing's Home a sponsorship program. Throughout the last 5 years, the vision has deepened to reach the community. The children of Mother Blessings will, by the grace of God, play a vital role in helping the community through acts of service, prayer and mercy ministry. Our desire is to plant a church within the community so that both the children and the community can participate with us in the Great Commission and receive the benefits of the body of Christ.  The name, Standing Side by Side, was given to this ministry because we believe that in order to reach others we must consider all as image bearers of God, equal in dignity and worth.

We know that providing for the physical needs of the Liberians is not our ultimate goal. We pray to see them spiritually restored into a right relationship with God.

standing Side by Side's core values

BIBLICAL TRUTH (John 1:1-2; 2 Pet 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 3:16) We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God, which serves as the foundation for our ministry. We believe the Bible to be the primary source of authority for the Christian life, for in it are found words of eternal truth.

EQUALITY (Philippians 2:2; Galatians 3:28; Proverbs 22:2) We believe that under Christ, all humans are equal in dignity. Regardless of socioeconomic status, race, gender, or age, we are all one in Christ. Central to our ministry's focus ("Side by Side") is the belief that people are most effectively helped not by being placed under the aid of the wealthy, but by being empowered as equals through the power of the gospel.

RELATIONSHIPS (Hebrews 10:24-25; Philippians 2:3-4) We believe that relationships serve as the foundation for ministry. We believe that lives are most drastically changed through the means of a relationship, for through it comes authentic love, care, and a heart more open to the gospel message. Moreover, the country of Liberia is heavily communal, which means that relationships and community are given very high priority.

FAMILY (Psalm 78:5-7; Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Colossians 3:20) We believe that God works to further His people primarily through the core, family unit, which is the most conducive environment for the nurturing of a child. For this reason, we seek to not only care for children in children's homes, but to also reunite them with their families, or keep them from ever leaving.

THE CHURCH (Matthew 18:20; Colossians 3:16; Acts 2:42; Ephesians 4:12; 1 Corinthians 12:12-31) We believe in one universal Church, united through the belief in Christ as the Son of God and Savior of sinners (along with the sacraments)and the Bible as the foundation for this life. We believe more specifically that the message of the gospel is spread to communities most effectively through the establishment of local churches.

STEWARDSHIP (1 Peter 4:10; Acts 20:35; Rom 12:1) We believe that our lives are not our own, but were given to us in order to be returned back to God in an act of worship. Everything we own or are given is therefore God's and all Biblical ethics applies to the manner in which we use these resources for the advancement of His kingdom.
